What is neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback is like going to the gym to build stability, flexibility, and strength for your brain. This helps the mind’s ability to self-regulate. It also involves training the nervous system to maximize calmness and optimize alertness. Neurofeedback helps the body come out of the fight or flight response; this allows the body to heal itself. I utilize two types of neurofeedback: the Othmer (or Cygnet) method and LENS therapy.
How does it work?
A form of biofeedback
Neurofeedback is a form of biofeedback. Just as specialized sensors can show you your own heartbeat, neurofeedback shows you your brain wave activity.
Self-Regulation
When the brain can see its own activity, it begins to self-regulate. It naturally improves the timing and coordination of its elaborate symphony of electrical activity.
Brain Training Sessions
Think of neurofeedback (or EEG biofeedback) as a personal brain training session. Training the brain to function at its maximum potential, similar to how the body is exercised, toned, and maintained.
Othmer Method or LENS Therapy?
Othmer and LENS treat different problems (with some overlap) that allow for personalized treatment and results.
Othmer Method
Traditional neurofeedback
- Post-traumatic stress symptoms
- Overactive fight/flight/freeze modes
- Unhealthy attachment patterns
- Emotional reactivity
- ADD & ADHD
- Anxiety and panic
- Nightmares
- Migraines
- Stomach aches
- Sleep problems
- Muscle tension
- Nerve pain
- Othmer method is also used to reach peak performance
- Anyone who would like to improve cognition
- Athletes
- Executives

LENS Therapy
Non-traditional neurofeedback
- Anxiety
- Depression
- ADD & ADHD
- Headaches
- Concussions
- PMS
